Synopsis
This film is inspired by Congolese boxing legend Balezi “Kibomango” Bagunda’s all female boxing-team that he created as an antidote to the sexual violence and endemic poverty that too-many women in his country endure. A young Congolese woman forced to work in an illegal mineral mine escapes her captors and finds a new life for herself after joining a renowned all women boxing club in the border city of Goma. Nominated for 8 African Academy Awards and a SA Indie Fest Winner, this film is a powerful depiction of the depravity of war and enormous suffering on people. Fight like a girl is a film about determination, immense courage, bravery, and unbeatable spirit.
