Synopsis
An insightful study of over 40 years of an interracial marriage between a Ghanaian and a German offers many different views on the politics of African-European marital relationships. The couple’s children recount the history of their marriage from when they first met in England post-WW2, to their later years and the legacy they left their children. They give us their thoughts on the challenges faced by a European woman living with her extended family in Ghana, and more broadly on the changing face of racism, particularly in Germany. Using footage made for German TV of the couple 20 years earlier, interviews, and archival photographs, an appreciation is built up of the whole family that is intimate, frank, and thoughtful.
