Synopsis
Wanjuga Kimathi searches for the burial place and remains of her father, a leader in the Mau Mau uprising against British colonial rule in the 1950’s. Her story plays out like a thriller as she begins to investigate colonial atrocities, concentration camps and land theft, and she and her mother spark a larger movement for justice. She transforms over the course of the film into a powerful leader for truth and for those whose land was taken. Stark and shocking, this is a must see for those interested in the history of colonialism in Africa.
“Our motivation stems from the belief that it is time that Kenyans author their own history” – director.
